TAC-41/SRS Piston Cup with Polycarbonate Precision Airbrake Kit (x7)
TAC-41/SRS Piston Cup with Polycarbonate Precision Airbrake Kit (x7)
An airbrake reduces the impact noise generated by the piston hitting the cylinder head by creating an air cushion just before contact. This system can significantly reduce the overall firing sound of a bolt-action airsoft replica, with minimal or no loss in muzzle energy when properly tuned.
This new version of our airbrake kit replaces the previous three-piece aluminum set with seven finely graduated airbrakes, injection-molded in reinforced polycarbonate, a high-performance engineering plastic known for its durability, resilience, and precision. The polycarbonate construction ensures no compromise in strength, reliability, or performance compared to the former aluminum design.
The seven airbrakes (sizes XXS, XS, S, M, L, XL, XXL) come attached to a single sprue, allowing users to easily select and detach the size that best suits their performance goals. Sizes XXS, M, and XXL correspond to the previous aluminum models, while the four additional sizes allow for much finer adjustment of damping effect, letting players optimize noise reduction without sacrificing power.
How to choose your airbrake:
Test your replica with a chronograph using each of the 7 airbrakes. You should get a curve that starts with a stable plateau before dropping off sharply, as shown in this example (see chart below). Choose the longest airbrake that does not reduce the replica’s power — in this example, it’s the 12 mm airbrake.
